YANRAN嫣然 CHEN

Greetings! I am a third-year PhD student at the NLLG Lab, University of Technology Nuremberg, co-supervised by ChatGPT and Prof. Dr. Steffen Eger. Before that, I received my B.Sc. degree in Information Systems Engineering and M.Sc. degree in Computer Science from the Technical University of Darmstadt.

My PhD research examines (AI-driven) emotional framing as a scalable form of persuasive influence, investigating its effects on human reasoning, particularly on perceived argument convincingness and logical fallacy detection. I study human–LLM alignment in emotion-sensitive reasoning and the justification of emotional appeals in computational argumentation, toward building LLM systems for both evaluating and generating affectively compelling yet bias-resilient arguments.

My broader research interests lie in diagnosing and developing automatic evaluation metrics, e.g., robust evaluation of machine translation and summarization, quantification of syntactic language evolution, and multidimensional assessment of diversity in automatic poetry generation.

Beyond my own research, I’m also an avid user of AI4Science and agentic tools—my unofficial coauthors these days.
